Democratic Nominee For U.S. Senate Charles Booker Issues Statement On Scotus’s Epa Ruling

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – In response to the U.S. Supreme Court ruling in West Virginia v. Environmental Protection Agency, Democratic Nominee for U.S. Senate Charles Booker released the following statement:

“The Supreme Court’s ruling is yet another devastating blow to not only its own legitimacy, but our collective pursuit of a free, just, and safe society. Climate chaos is very real, and this destructive ruling will only make it worse. As Kentuckians, we will be especially harmed by this shameful rollback. In many ways, Kentucky has been a ground zero for the ills and decline in the fossil fuel industry. From struggling crops, to crumbling infrastructure, health disparities, and environmental injustice, Kentuckians from the hood to the holler desperately need and deserve better. Our children deserve clean air. Our families deserve a sustainable economic future. As the next U.S. Senator for Kentucky, I will fight to create a government that not only mitigates and combats climate chaos, but also protects Kentuckians from environmental pollutants, lowers costs for families, creates good paying jobs, and protects our health. Mitch McConnell and Rand Paul packed the Supreme Court on behalf of big oil and corporate greed. When I am elected, I will work to end the filibuster, unpack Mitch and Rand’s court, clean their harmful mess, and secure a Kentucky New Deal to ensure a brighter future for our children.”
