Charles Booker, Democratic Nominee For U.S. Senate, Issues Statement On Abortion Ruling

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Following today’s ruling by U.S. District Judge Rebecca Grady Jennings, Democratic Nominee for U.S. Senate Charles Booker released the following statement:

“On the heels of the leaked draft opinion by the U.S. Supreme Court and Oklahoma’s ominous abortion bill, today we learned that Kentuckians will still have access to abortion heath care. A woman’s right to make her own healthcare decisions should not be eliminated or forced by anyone. Every Kentuckian deserves access to vital, life-saving healthcare. The egregious HB 3 says otherwise. The wave of big government attacks on women is another reminder that the GOP leadership is not for the people, do not care about the health of our families, and have no desire to uphold the Constitution. We still have work to do to prevent bills like HB3 from ever being introduced and threatening the lives of Kentuckians. In the U.S. Senate, I’ll work to eliminate threats to Roe v. Wade by codifying it into law. To ensure we protect the rights of Kentucky families, as Senator, I will vote to eliminate the filibuster, lead the charge to expand the Supreme Court, and commit to supporting Supreme Court Justices who will uphold our Constitution and fight for reproductive rights.”
