U.S. Senate Candidate Charles Booker Receives Recommendation From National Education Association, Kentucky Education Association And Jefferson County Teachers Association

LOUISVILLE, KY—The National Education Association (NEA) announced today that they are recommending former State Rep. Charles Booker for U.S. Senate. The NEA is the national affiliate of the Kentucky Education Association (KEA) who represents 44,000 members in all 120 counties that are active teachers, retirees or aspiring educators. The NEA represents over 3 million members and is the largest professional employee organization in the country.

“Charles Booker is a champion for America’s students and Kentucky’s working families. He is someone who knows how critical it is to ensure that every student – Black and white, Native and newcomer, Hispanic and Asian, rural and urban alike – has access to quality public schools. Booker will partner with parents and educators to ensure all students – no matter their ZIP code or background – have the freedom and opportunity to achieve their dreams. He understands that educators – those who know the names of the students in the classroom – must have a seat at the table when making education policy. Mr. Booker recognizes that expanding the use of community schools – bringing academic coursework, health and social services, and community engagement under one roof – is the most effective way to address the gaps our students face, improve learning, and build stronger communities. And in the U.S. Senate, Booker will continue helping level the playing field for working families, while getting things done to help students, educators, and families across the Bluegrass State. That is why the National Education Association is proud to recommend Charles Booker in his campaign for U.S. Senate,” said National Education Association President Becky Pringle.

“I am honored to receive the support of the National Education Association. In a time when our public education system is under attack, is underappreciated and severely underfunded, our nation’s teachers continue to carry on the important work of educating America’s children. We ask our teachers and our public school support staff to stand in the gap and address the needs of our children when public policy has failed them. I see their sacrifice and I see their struggle. As your next U.S. Senator, I will work with our nation’s educators to help all students achieve their dreams. I will be a tireless advocate for America’s kids and the men and women in public education that stand behind them,” Charles Booker said.

“Charles Booker has been a champion for children and public education. He has fought to get our students the resources they need to succeed and he stood up for teachers when their hard-earned pensions were under attack. Our public school educators are proud to support Charles Booker for US Senate,” said Brent McKim, President of the Jefferson County Teachers Association.
