Stand up for Kentucky Coal Miners

For decades, politicians have come to Kentucky to tell us that they will save or bring back coal jobs. But when you listen to Kentucky miners, they will tell you the coal jobs are already leaving if not already gone. We need leadership that will listen to their voices, and support them in being the leaders for a sustainable economic future instead of abandoning them as the economy moves away from reliance on fossil fuels.

At the same time, we must not forget the sacrifice that so many of our coal miners have made in order to work the mines, and stand up for them against efforts to strip them of health benefits. As Senator, Charles will pass the Black Lung Benefits Disability Trust Fund Solvency Act, and fight to keep the promises that the Federal Government made to coal country. This includes ensuring Social Security benefits are paid, and holding companies accountable for environmental destruction.
