Our democracy is hanging on by a thread, and our current U.S. Senators are hacking away at that thread every chance they get. In order to make our democracy real, we must protect and expand the right to vote, so that every eligible citizen can make their voices heard at the ballot box.
As a State Representative, Charles has been a leader in pushing for full, automatic restoration of voting rights to Kentuckians who have previously committed felonies and have completed their sentences. As Senator, he would push for federal legislation to ensure full, automatic restoration of voting rights.
Beyond restoration, Charles is a strong supporter of the John Lewis Voting Rights Act, as well as a variety of policies to increase access to the ballot box, including same-day voter registration, expanded early voting, no-excuse absentee voting, universal mail-in voting,
expanded voting hours on election day, and declare election day into a Federal holiday.
