Charles Booker, Democratic Nominee For U.S. Senate, Issues Statement On The Department Of Justice Findings And The Arrest Of Four LMPD Officers

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – In response to the Department of Justice’s findings in their investigation of the murder of Breonna Taylor on March 13, 2020, and the news that four Louisville Metro Police Department (LMPD) officers are now under arrest by the FBI, Charles Booker, Democratic nominee for the United States Senate and former State Representative, issued the following statement:

“Today is a critical and deeply needed inflection point in our pursuit of accountability and justice. When Breonna Taylor’s door was busted down, it changed our city and this country forever. We all felt that pain, and together, we marched in the streets crying out for justice. This news is an important reminder that the moral arc Dr. King spoke about is still able to bend. Together, as family, we are bending that arc. To Tamika Palmer and the family, to every organizer, to every neighbor who lifted their voices, and to the officials who upheld their responsibility to investigate the facts and stand up against injustice, I thank you. To every Kentuckian who locked arms from Pikeville to Paducah, I thank you. The work to realize true justice is far from complete, but I pray this announcement strengthens our collective resolve to keep leading toward the healing we deserve. We will never stop saying her name.”
